We continue our Sounds of Akron program with Angry Cow Poetry as two incredible local features, Blak Reign and High Priest, blend music and spoken word for a unique night you don’t want to miss.
This unique offering is a powerful combination of music and the spoken word presented by Keith Allison of Angry Cow Poetry, along with two local musically inclined poets, Blak Reign and High Priest.
Keith Allison is a father, educator, public speaker, video editor, poet, and spoken word artist. He uses poetry to express his hopes for a more just and compassionate world for humans and nonhumans alike and to vent his frustrations when we seem so far from accomplishing that goal. He has authored three books, What if the Shoe Were on the Other Hoof?, Screaming with My Indoor Voice, and the brand new, Continuity Flaws. His poetry has also been published in collections by The Literary Parrot, Poetry is Life Publishing, Trouvaille Review, and Writing Knights Press.
Keith has been a featured performer at dozens of local venues, including Kenmore gem, the Rialto Theater, and the Kenmore Branch Library. He has made music and poetry videos for a number of artists. He produces and edits a quarterly video poetry collection, Outdoor Voices in an Indoor World, that brings together many amazing poetic voices. He has had videos chosen as official selections of the Monologues & Poetry International Film Fest and the Highland Square Film Fest, where his videos received three nominations.
You can find his poetry in print form at his blog, Ruminations of an Angry Cow, at www.angrycowpoetry.blogspot.com. You can follow him on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube at @angrycowpoetry.
