A two-part course on key concepts from the first two chapters of The Design of Everyday Things by Don Norman. Learn design concepts inventors can apply to our creative process.
Everyone designs. Design occurs anytime you deliberately change an environment to make things better. When you decide what seat to take in an auditorium you’re designing your experience. When you rearrange the furniture in a room or draft an email, you’re designing.
This course uses the "facilitated learning" of the Peer to Peer University model (P2PU) to discover key concepts from the first two chapters of The Design of Everyday Things (Revised and Expanded Edition, November 2013) by Don Norman. It’s intended to be enjoyable and informative for anyone curious about design: everyday people, technical people, designers, and non-designers alike.
Akron Inventors Club is open to all with an interest in invention and innovation. Doors open at 5:30 pm for networking and refreshments. Meeting begins at 6 pm. This is a special two part Inventors Club meeting. Part 2 will be held the following Thursday.

Main Library, located in the heart of downtown Akron, combines compelling public space with meaningful and relevant public library services for all members of our community. Since opening in 2004, the downtown library welcomes more than one million visitors each year.

Also available at Main Library are more than 125 public access computers, color photocopiers/printers, laminating, scanning, faxing, and free Wi-Fi.
Specialized spaces include a 425-seat auditorium, public meeting rooms, and a used bookstore. An interior glass block walkway leads to a 600-space parking garage owned by the City of Akron. An outdoor amphitheater and landscaped park complete the complex.
