Explore the wonders of winter in this presentation by Naturalist Judy Semroc of Nature Spark. Discover unique ice formations, animal and plant survival strategies, and ways to support wildlife.

This presentation explores the beauty of nature in winter, from icicles to unusual ice and snow formations found in Northeast Ohio. Learn about the winter activity and “hibernation” of plants, animals, and insects, and discover ways to help birds survive the season by providing food and water.

Judy is the founder of Chrysalis in Time‚ the first Ohio chapter of the North American Butterfly Association (NABA). She serves on the boards of the Ohio Ornithological Society (Conservation Committee) and the Ohio Biological Survey. She co-authored two natural history guides, "Dragonflies & Damselflies of Northeast Ohio” and "Goldenrods of Northeast Ohio:  A Field Guide to Identification & Natural History."

For more than 20 years, Judy worked as a conservation specialist in the Natural Areas Division of the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. A former petroleum geologist and science teacher, she shares her passion for the natural world through field trips, interpretive programs, and photography.
