Slow movements and mindful breathing make tai chi and qigong ideal exercises for all ages and physical abilities. This four-week series is taught by Nancy Gardner.

Spend your lunchtime at Main Library with the smooth, relaxing movements of tai chi and qigong—mind-body exercises that improve health, balance, and focus. Sessions take place on the first floor in front of the Business, Government and Science desk on February 3, 10, 17, and 24 from 12:15-1pm.
Tai chi and qigong, incorporate slow movements, proper posture, and mindful breathing. Practiced regularly, they offer many benefits. Tai Chi, a form of qigong, is a low-impact, weight-bearing martial art. Qigong, which means "energy cultivation," includes movement, meditative, and medical practices.
Wear exercise shoes, comfortable clothes, and bring a water bottle.
Instructor Nancy Gardner is certified in tai chi, kung fu, and qigong She is also a licensed massage therapist and polarity therapy practitioner with nearly 40 years experience. She teaches weekly Tai Chi and Qigong class in Fairlawn, Ohio, and offers unique programs for groups, organizations, libraries, and the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

Also available at Main Library are more than 125 public access computers, color photocopiers/printers, laminating, scanning, faxing, and free Wi-Fi.
Specialized spaces include a 425-seat auditorium, public meeting rooms, and a used bookstore. An interior glass block walkway leads to a 600-space parking garage owned by the City of Akron. An outdoor amphitheater and landscaped park complete the complex.
