These classes are designed to assist patrons who want to create last-minute gifts by using some of our machines at the Maker Space in TechZone. You must register and bring your own materials.

Laser Engraver: December 4, 2023 | Monday, 2-4 pm: Bring your own materials and we will assist you with your design to etch on wood, acrylic, paper/cardstock/cardboard, cork, glass, coated metals, or ceramic/marble/tile. The print bed is 12” x 24”, which means the material that you bring in to engrave cannot exceed those dimensions. The engraver can cut through materials 1/4” thick or thinner. If you plan to cut through material, make sure it is the proper width.
Silhouette Die-cut Cameo: December 5, 2023 | Tuesday, 2-4 pm: Bring your own materials and we will assist you with your design and cut. Use this machine to create greeting cards, iron-on designs for T-shirts, gift boxes, stencils, and more.
Vinyl Printer: December 7, 2023 | Thursday, 2-4 pm: We will assist you with your design using either Microsoft Publisher or online graphic design software Canva to create posters, banners, or stickers. Printing your design using our vinyl printer will incur the usual cost. For this class, you DO NOT need to bring your own material, but you will pay for the cost of vinyl when you print. We will limit your image to 4 feet for this class.

Main Library, located in the heart of downtown Akron, combines compelling public space with meaningful and relevant public library services for all members of our community. Since opening in 2004, the downtown library welcomes more than one million visitors each year.
Subject divisions include: Business, Government & Science, Culture & AV, Magazines & Newspapers, Special Collections (local history & genealogy), TechZone@Main, Teen, and a 12,000 square feet Children's Library.
Special services available at Main Library include: a Patent & Trademark Resource Center; U.S. Passport and Notary services; a Microbusiness Center; a Maker Space; a resource lab for early childhood educators; and regularly scheduled computer training classes. Also available at Main Library are more than 125 public access computers, color photocopiers/printers, laminating, scanning, faxing, and free Wi-Fi.
Specialized spaces include a 425-seat auditorium, public meeting rooms, and a used bookstore. An interior glass block walkway leads to a 600-space parking garage owned by the City of Akron. An outdoor amphitheater and landscaped park complete the complex.
