Making a seed ball can be messy! Wear appropriate clothing or bring garden gloves if you wish. All ages are welcome to participate.

The Ohio Pollinator Habitat Initiative is a nonprofit organization working to improve and create pollinator habitats in the state of Ohio. We strive to raise awareness for all Ohioans about the importance of pollinators.  For more information, visit https://www.ohiopollinator.org

Did you know that you live in a watershed? Everyone does! And did you know that the decisions you make in your watershed can affect the water quality of the Portage Lakes, Lake Erie, and even the Atlantic Ocean?  Because watersheds are so important, Summit Soil and Water Conservation District (SSWCD) is excited to partner with the Portage Lakes Library Branch of the Akron-Summit County Public Library to launch the Portage Lakes Library Corner in March 2023!

Learn how watersheds work, why they matter, and what simple choices YOU can make in your daily life to help improve water quality, keep the watershed healthy, and protect life on the Portage Lakes and beyond.

Join us at the library for fun and educational activities, book clubs, reading lists, speakers, and a new rotating educational display about the history, ecology, beauty, and importance of the Portage Lakes watershed. Be sure to keep an eye out on the library calendar to see what Summit Soil & Water Conservation District is bringing to the library this Spring!
