Join us on this virtual interactive trip as a Glacier Bay Park and Preserve Ranger leads us through Glacier Bay to learn about humpback whales and other marine life. Registration required.

Glacier Bay is home to one of the most magnificent marine mammals: the endangered humpback whale. Join a Park Ranger on a virtual interactive trip through Glacier Bay to learn about these massive creatures and other marine mammals that live in the productive waters of Glacier Bay.

Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve protects an intact tidewater glacier ecosystem, including towering mountains, calving glaciers, terrestrial and marine wildlife, and more for all people. Visitors to Glacier Bay discover the spiritual, scientific, and personal meanings of this special place. Our videoconferencing programs connect people to this remote national park.

The Library has materials on whales, including "Secrets of the Whales" by Brian Skerry with Libby Sander.

About the branch

Highland Square is one of Akron’s most iconic communities, hosting numerous street fairs and festivals, eclectic shopping and dining, and a vibrant night life. The extremely diverse neighborhood is home to seniors, young families, artists, educators, and students of all demographics. The Highland Square Branch Library is a reflection of this diverse neighborhood, with a standout LGBTQ collection and a rich programming schedule.

Reference assistance, computers and computer classes, WiFi, copiers, scanning, and faxing round out the services provided within the library. The full scope of community participation, however, is seen in local senior care facilities, local schools and preschools, and neighborhood festivals where Highland Square Branch Library staff plays an active role in creating experiences for participants of all ages.
