Odom Blvd. Branch Library and the Ohio State University Extension of Summit County will present a free "Healthy Families" workshop series at the Library starting Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 5:30 pm. The nutrition series will teach families how to make tasty and healthy food, stretch their food budget, and increase their activity levels. Each session will include a food sampling, a gift, and a short physical activity.

As part of the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP), the "Healthy Families" workshop will also focus on helping participants find inspiration to increase their physical activity levels. Donna Greene from OSU Extension will share simple ways for families to get moving and enjoy being active together.

Registration is required and includes all eight sessions. The series will finish on Feb.28, and participants who attend at least six of the eight sessions will receive a certificate of completion. About the branch

Local artist Woodrow Nash created two murals for the Odom Boulevard Branch Library, celebrating the lives and ideas of African-American leaders and pioneers—Martin Luther King, Jr., Frederick Douglass, Malcolm X, Sojourner Truth, Helen Arnold, Ed Davis, Shirla McClain, Martin Chapman, Horace Stewart, and Vernon Odom. Odom Boulevard Branch Library's extensive collection of African-American fiction, non-fiction, gospel music, and more also celebrates the contribution of African-American writers and artists.
