Summit Metro Parks Cultural Resource Coordinator Megan Shaeffer, Ph.D., will present some of the archaeological sites and features found in the Metro Parks and their context in the cultural history of Summit County and northeast Ohio.
Megan Shaeffer holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Sociology from Kent State University, an M.A. in Medieval Archaeology from the University of York, UK, and a B.A. in Anthropology from the Ohio State University. As Cultural Resource Coordinator at Summit Metro Parks, she collaborates with other local and state organizations to conduct cultural resource-related research and has developed community outreach and volunteer opportunities. Before working for Summit Metro Parks, Dr. Shaeffer taught archaeology, anthropology, and sociology at the University of Akron and Kent State University and worked as a staff archaeologist for the Ohio Department of Transportation.
