Condor's Flight presents the story of the endangered California condor. Learn about the ecological principles of adaptation and survival and consider the role society plays in conservation efforts. The California condor (Gymnogyps californianus) is a federally endangered bird that was rescued from extinction by intensive human efforts. It now breeds in the southwest states such as Arizona, Utah, and California. Considered one of the rarest birds in the world, it is the largest land bird in North America with a wingspan up to 9 1/2 feet and weighing up to 23 pounds. To learn more, click here.

Located in Arizona, Grand Canyon National Park encompasses 277 miles (446 km) of the Colorado River and adjacent uplands. The park is home to much of the immense Grand Canyon; a mile (1.6 km) deep, and up to 18 miles (29 km) wide. Layered bands of colorful rock reveal millions of years of geologic history. Grand Canyon is unmatched in the vistas it offers visitors from the rim.
