Patent attorney, Sergey Vernyuk, will speak about practicing patent marking in order to recover monetary damages for infringement. Register to receive a Zoom link.
Inventors often apply for patents to protect their inventions from infringers. But to recover money damages for infringement, the patent owner must first notify the infringers of the patent. One such notification is patent marking, which is what this discussion will focus on. We will discuss the purpose of patent marking, who must mark, what the marking should say, how to mark, consequences of failure to mark, and recent legislative changes on patent marking. A Q&A session will follow. Meetings of the Akron Inventors Club are free and open to all.
The speaker, Sergey Vernyuk is an Ohio-based registered U.S. Patent Attorney who earned his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from Cleveland State University in 2003; Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, also from Cleveland State University, in 2004; and Juris Doctorate, second in his class, from the University of Akron School of Law in 2012, where he was also on Law Review.
His practice includes litigating intellectual property issues and prosecution of U.S. and foreign patents, trademarks, and copyrights.
During this free, virtual program taking place via Zoom, Sergey Vernyuk will be introduced at 6:00 p.m. Following his presentation, there will be a Q&A session.
A Zoom link and instructions will be emailed to all registrants the week of the program.
