Human Trafficking in Our Community, by Hope and Healing

This virtual Human Trafficking 101 training provides basic information about the issue, including how to identify it, how to respond to survivors, and how to get involved in prevention and outreach.

Human trafficking is a serious issue in our communities. Hope and Healing is an organization that provides free and confidential services to survivors of intimate partner violence and sexual violence in Summit and Medina counties in Northeastern Ohio. They work to provide healing hope and empowerment to survivors.

This virtual Human Trafficking 101 training is designed to provide basic information about the issue, including how to identify it, how to respond to survivors, and how to get involved in prevention and outreach.

This event is open to all community members, however mature topics will be discussed, so use discretion when attending and sharing with others

The Akron-Summit County Public Library has materials on this subject, including Breaking Free: True Stories of Girls Who Escaped Modern Slavery by Abby Sher.

You will receive an e-mail with the participation link two days before the program. Please contact the Highland Square Branch Library if you are unable to attend.

About the branch

Highland Square is one of Akron’s most iconic communities, hosting numerous street fairs and festivals, eclectic shopping and dining, and a vibrant night life. Reference assistance, computers and computer classes, WiFi, copiers, scanning, and faxing round out the services provided within the library. The full scope of community participation, however, is seen in local senior care facilities, local schools and preschools, and neighborhood festivals where Highland Square Branch Library staff plays an active role in creating experiences for participants of all ages.
