Learn about human trafficking, including what it is, how frequent it happens, risk factors for victims, characteristics of traffickers, and indicators that someone might be being trafficked.
This program is presented by Jan Apisa, who joined the Victim Assistance program as a Human Trafficking Public Education Specialist. Under an Office of Criminal Justice Services grant, she coordinated a 3-month collaborative quantitative Backpage research project of local human trafficking. She has been an active member of the Summit County Collaborative Against Human Trafficking since 2014. From December 2015 through October 2018, she served as Chair of the Collaborative Executive Committee. She has a Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Akron.
