Retired commercial artist Brian Jones will demonstrate the early styles and techniques used to create simple and vintage cartoons. He worked in advertising for more than 50 years and managed a large studio that produced hand-drawn advertisements for major rubber companies, including Seiberling, Goodrich, Firestone, and General Tire. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Kent State University in 1960 and also taught art in Akron Public Schools.
A selection of Brian's advertising artwork will be on exhibit on the third floor outside Special Collections.

Main Library, located in the heart of downtown Akron, combines compelling public space with meaningful and relevant public library services for all members of our community. Since opening in 2004, the downtown library welcomes more than one million visitors each year.

Specialized spaces include a 425-seat auditorium, public meeting rooms, and a used bookstore. An interior glass block walkway leads to a 600-space parking garage owned by the City of Akron. An outdoor amphitheater and landscaped park complete the complex.
