Are you looking for a way to celebrate your geeky obsessions? Here's your chance! Whether you're a fan of Avengers, Wonder Woman, Doctor Who, Harry Potter, manga, or D&D, you're sure to have a great time geeking out with your fellow fans at Geekfest! All fandoms are welcome to this all-ages event.
12-3 pm Scavenger Hunt - Floors 1 - 3 of Main Library
Pick up a scavenger hunt form at the Cosplay Contest registration table and follow it for some prizes!

50th Anniversary of Apollo 11 Moon Landing - Auditorium
NASA aerospace engineer Craig Williams will be discussing the first lunar mission made by astronauts. In addition to the first men to the Moon, Apollo 11 was also the first manned flight on the Saturn V Moon rocket.
12:30 pm - Ramen Eating Contest - Meeting Room 2AB
The first person to finish a bowl of noodles wins a prize! Ten participants compete every 10 minutes.
1 pm - K-pop Karaoke/Singalong - Meeting Room 1
If you’re a K-pop fan, stop in and listen to some Korean Pop and sing along!
1:45 pm Anime Name That Tune - Meeting Room 2AB
Be the first to recognize music from popular anime for prizes.
2 pm Derf Backderf - Auditorium
Join award-winning and bestselling comic artist Derf Backderf as he discusses his career and the importance of comics in American culture.
3 pm Teen and Adult Cosplay Contest - Auditorium
Dress as your favorite book, movie, game, television, or other character and compete against others for fun prizes. To participate in the contest, you must register by 2:30 pm.

Manga artist Mellissa Redman will show us how to draw basic manga characters.

Main Library, located in the heart of downtown Akron, combines compelling public space with meaningful and relevant public library services for all members of our community. Since opening in 2004, the downtown library welcomes more than one million visitors each year.
Subject divisions include: Business, Government & Science, Culture & AV, Magazines & Newspapers, Special Collections (local history & genealogy), TechZone@Main, Teen, and a 12,000 square feet Children's Library.
Special services available at Main Library include: a Patent & Trademark Resource Center; U.S. Passport and Notary services; a Microbusiness Center; a Maker Space; a resource lab for early childhood educators; and regularly scheduled computer training classes. Also available at Main Library are more than 125 public access computers, color photocopiers/printers, laminating, scanning, faxing, and free Wi-Fi.
Specialized spaces include a 425-seat auditorium, public meeting rooms, and a used bookstore. An interior glass block walkway leads to a 600-space parking garage owned by the City of Akron. An outdoor amphitheater and landscaped park complete the complex.
