Travel presentation about the Mountain Gorillas of Uganda.
In March of 1999, treks through the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest of Uganda to see rare mountain gorillas were exclusive forays that began in a tranquil agricultural valley. That calm was shattered when eight tourists, including an American couple, were hacked or bludgeoned to death in the forest by a band of rebels who were said to be remnants of ethnic Hutu militias that carried out mass killings in Rwanda in 1994. This is the story of the first American tourists to go to Bwindi after the massacre. Led by gorilla researcher Craig Cholle, who worked with Dian Fossey in Rwanda, and two local guides, eight adventurous travelers made the journey of a lifetime. Presented by Mike Daly.
