The tale of the Portage Lakes is overflowing with intriguing insights!

Indulge yourself in the natural and artificial history of the region, engaging in topics such as their creation due to glacial activity, the morphing and meandering of the lakes and channels that connect them, and the construction of synthetic lakes to suit the needs of the public.

Learn about the clever use of the lakes for transportation by the Native Americans, sparking the area’s namesake, and the water’s importance in the prosperousness of the surrounding townships. Questions and personal histories involving the Portage Lakes are welcomed and encouraged!
